Ole Henkriksen WonderFeel Makeup Meltoff: What We're Thinking
One of the most iconic names in Scandanavian Skincare, Ole Henriksen is a great brand for anyone searching for nature-derived ingredients that can help every skintype. With multiple ranges for oily, dry and combination skin, Ole has not only great products, but the ethics behind them are great as well.
This month, we tried the new Wonderfeel cleanser, meant to melt off makeup and keep dry skin hydrated in the process by using a cold cream type approach, and a damp towlette. We'll walk you through the step by step process of how we used this cleanser, and then our thoughts.
As per the instructions on the back of the box we started with a full face of makeup and dampened our face by splashing it with water. Then we applied a generous amount of the cleanser on our face and eyes, and massaged gently for 1-2 minutes. We then wet the towel with warm water and used it to wipe the product (and makeup) off our face and eyes. This seemed to be the most effective way the product worked, removing almost all of our waterproof and longwearing makeup, especially on our eyes. But this technique left our skin feeling raw from wiping it with the towel, even though it boasts being hydrating for dry skin.
Tests Two & Three
Next, we tested the same technique with a completely dry, full makeup face, which barely got anything off. There was spots of foundation left on the face and our mascara was still completely on. We also tried with a wet face, and rinsing off the water instead of using the towel, but the mascara still remained.
After testing this makeup remover for a week, all of my dry patches had re-emerged, even though this cleanser is meant for dry skin, it caused mine to dry out. No matter what technique I used (towel vs no towel) it wasn't guaranteed to get all of my makeup off, and left a strange residue on my face that I couldn't wash off unless I double cleansed with another cleanser. If you're looking at Ole Henrikson for your next makeup remover, I highly recommend the Uncover The Truth Melting Balm which I swear by for removing any kind of makeup, but this cleanser isn't anywhere near as good.
