Indie Lee's Brightening Cleanser Is Everything We've Ever Wanted

After the Tata Harper Nourishing Oil cleanser started to clog my pours and break me out, I decided to try something new that was still going to remove makeup and cleanse the skin without stripping it. Using The Detox Market’s Sample Program, I ordered 3 cleansers that I thought would do the trick and over the last two weeks, gave them a try. Here’s what I thought of each, and the full size I eventually purchased and why.

The Loser: Kypris Cleansing Concentrate

When I ordered this sample, I assumed the texture would be of a hard balm, similar to the Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm. However, it’s more of a goopy, grany texture. I applied this on top of dry makeup and noticed the unpleasant smell that it had. I massaged the cleanser into my skin, which did feel luxurious and soft, but when I tried to use it to remove my mascara, it burned my eyes and didn’t seem to leave my skin completely clean. For almost $70, I wouldn’t purchase the cleanser unless you have oilier skin and are using it as a second cleanse.

The Runner Up: Pai Hydrating Camilla and Rose Cleanser

Pai is one of my favorite brands when it comes to skincare, as everything is created with gentle-ness in mind. This soft cleanser was great as a second cleanse in the shower, and smelt amazing. It also removed makeup and didn’t burn my eyes when removing mascara. However, this cleanser, lie the Tata Harper one, left an oil-based residue on my face, and I was afraid that it would continue to clog my pores.

The Winner: Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser

I can’t even begin to describe to you how good this cleanser really is. Not only does it smell like fresh summer strawberries, it’s gel consistency foams up when wet so you’re really able to massage it into the skin. When I removed my eye makeup, it was gone in under 4 seconds and didn’t burn or itch. After rinsing, my skin looked like it was glowing and felt hydrated without being oily. My skin felt truly clean, but not stripped. After using this cleanser for 3 days, my small breakouts that I suspected were from my cleanser, disappeared, and revealed a smooth complexion.

After doing more research, I found that this cleanser contains strawberry seed oil and tomato extracts to help really brighten the face, and uses a bit of natural acids to breakdown dead skin without being extremely exfoliating. I also found that you can use this cleanser as a chemical exfoliant mask by leaving on clean skin for 5 or more minutes.

This cleanser is my new favorite for leaving my skin feeling cleansed and refreshed. What’s your favorite cleanser and why?
