I tried Nécessaire's Body Essentials kit

Isolation and social distancing has left me with an undying need to create as close to a spa-like shower experience as possible for days when I’m really feeling the fact that I’ve lived in leggings for 2 months. I’ve been wanting to try Nécessaire ever since I saw them on Instagram and the rave reviews I’ve seen of basically all their products. So I took the (surprisingly affordable) plunge and ordered their Body Essentials Kit in Eucalyptus. Here’s my shower thoughts.

Their mission statement gives you all you need to know about the brand, their values and the ingredients in their products.

We believe the products you use every day should make a true difference in your wellbeing and support your health. We obsessively research our ingredients and only use clean, effective, and high-quality ingredients your body can actually use.

Nécessaire include a “Yes” and “No” list page explaining why they use certain products and why other's are excluded. They also never use virgin forest materials, using recycled boxes and shipping materials.

Typically when I look at shower products, I prefer a floral scent. Lush’s Rose Jam is my, well, jam and I’ve bought approximately 100 cuts of the soap, jelly, you name it. Nécessaire’s products come in Eucalyptus, Bergamot, Sandalwood or fragrance free, and honestly, none of these are my personal type of scent, but I thought I’d try the Eucalyptus and it’s very herbal, which I actually like. When using the bodywash, the scent does linger on the skin but only enough to keep you smelling fresh, nothing that would interfere with perfumes or fragrances. I really love this body wash- it’s creamy and foamy and leaves the skin super soft and silky. Nécessaire formulates their products to specific pH levels to help “support the natural pH and barrier function of the skin.” I look forward to using this in my routine every time I shower and I find the scent invigorating enough to wake me up in the morning and relaxing enough to soothe me to sleep with a steamy hot shower before bed.

When it comes to the body exfoliator , I also really enjoy this product. It’s exfoliating without being too abrasive or rough on the skin and it didn’t leave my sensitive skin red or uncomfortable in any way. It utilizes bamboo charcoal and pumice as the manual exfoliator-which gives the product its gray cast. It also uses a gentle blend of three chemical exfoliants: Glycolic, Lactic, and Salicylic for the ultimate exfoliation while still being gentle. The eucalyptus scent is also strong in this product, but once again is fresh and feels spa like and a nice treat to use once a week.

Out of all the products, I would have to say that my favorite of the three is the fragrance free body lotion. The lotion contains a mix of Vitamin A, B³, C, E and Omegas 6 and 9, keeping the skin supple as well as hydrated throughly. I’m really picky about my body moisturizer- I hate the feeling of being wet for an extended period of time, but I also have extremely dry skin that needs a lot of moisture. This moisturizer applies smoothly and sinks into the skin quickly for minimal dry time. I’ve also noticed that my legs have felt so soft and look moisturized even if I forget a day of moisturizing. My only qualm is that they don’t offer a bigger size- if I used this everyday over my whole body I would probably finish within 1-2 months, and since you have to order Nécessaire, I’d recommend having to stock up.

I think it’s obvious that I loved these products- they’re great for sensitive skin, chic and a great quality for the price tag. I’d recommend snatching up one of their kits, that’s the most price conscious, and maybe adding on a few extras. Nécessaire is also a great brand for those of us who are sustainability and ingredient conscious, they’re guilt free products through and through.
