Testing GOOP Glow: The Initial Reaction

We’re back reviewing another beauty drink today, and this is one that a lot of readers have asked us about: GOOP Glow.

The powder mix comes in single serve packets that are easy to take on the go to the gym or the office if you forget to drink it in the morning, and claims that it boosts skin’s glow by helping to block polluters that lead to fine lines and wrinkles, uneven tone, and dull or uneven texture. Glow includes Vitamin C, Vitamin E and COQ-10 as well as two powerful antioxidants to boost skin’s ability to create collagen and keep an even tone.

A box of 5 packs is $12, with a box of 30 being a whopping $60- that’s $2 a drink, and while that is technically cheaper than drinking a coffee every morning, I don’t know if I’d be willing to shell out so much for a one month supply unless it really wows me.

When I first dumped the packet into my 8oz glass of water, the powder clung together and started to form hard chunks. Thinking this was going to be exactly like the Vital Proteins powder disaster a few weeks ago, I started stirring vigorously (if you have a blender bottle shaking would be more efficient, or using an aerolatte milk frother) and after a few minutes it all dissolved into a smooth, non-sandy drink.

It’s also a bright orange color-think Fanta orange, and actually smells a bit like Fanta too, and I thought it was going to be a sickeningly sweet drink that would turn my stomach to drink in the morning, but I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first sip. If you like Panera’s Blood Orange Lemonade- this is a healthy dupe. The GOOP website says it’s orange with lemon verbena, but I truly think it tastes like an orange-lemonade and is so delicious I’m almost sad I only get to drink it once a day.

To continue my test, I’m going to drink this every other day, filling the gap days with my trusted Beauty Chef Collagen, since I only have 5 of the GOOP Glows. After 10 days, I’ll report back on how my skin is looking, and currently, it’s not looking great, and is especially dry.
